Arrest of Russian Agent in Odesa Region
The Security Service of Ukraine reported the arrest of an agent working for the FSB who assisted the occupiers in targeting defense facilities in the Odesa region. This criminal was involved in gathering local coordinates and was also tasked with setting one of the facilities on fire.
Thanks to the rapid actions of the SBU, the sabotage plan was thwarted. The agency undertook measures to secure the defense forces whose coordinates were recorded by the agent.
According to the case materials, the detainee was a 41-year-old unemployed resident of Izmail, who was recruited through Telegram channels while searching for «easy money».
The main goal of the agent was to identify temporary positions of the defense forces that the occupiers planned to attack.
Specifically, he was interested in buildings that could be used by the National Guard and military law enforcement.
To gather information, the agent secretly roamed the area, photographing potential targets, marking them on Google Maps, and passing the data to his FSB curator via messenger.
Later, he was ordered to set fire to one of the «identified» sites.
However, SBU operatives detained him before he could carry out his plan.
During searches, a mobile phone containing evidence of correspondence and cooperation with the occupiers was confiscated.
Based on the gathered evidence, the investigation reported the detainee under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
The offender is held in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were conducted by the staff of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU and investigators in the Odesa region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
