Arrest of Fraudster Selling Humanitarian Vehicles

In the Odesa region, law enforcement officials have apprehended a resident of Kyiv region who was involved in the illegal sale of vehicles imported as humanitarian aid. The suspect has been charged and faces up to seven years in prison along with asset confiscation.
Under the operational oversight of the Security Service of Ukraine, investigators from the National Police uncovered a scheme involving a 53-year-old man who colluded with other unidentified individuals to illegally sell vehicles that were brought into Ukraine under a simplified procedure for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The suspect operated under the guise of a charitable organization, using its documents to acquire vehicles which he then listed for sale online.
During the investigation, police documented the sale of three vehicles: a Nissan Pick-Up, a Nissan Navara, and a Mazda for $17,800.
After the suspect received the full payment and handed over the vehicles along with the documents, police halted the fraudulent transaction and arrested him.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators have notified the suspect of charges related to the disposal of humanitarian aid goods for profit. Under Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years and asset confiscation.
The court will decide on the preventive measures for the suspect.
