Crime in Odesa Region: New Developments in the Case
Law enforcement has charged a man involved in a series of thefts in the Odesa region and sent the case to court. He faces imprisonment.
A 38-year-old resident of a village in the Kulievka community illegally entered the summer kitchen of a 78-year-old woman during curfew hours at the end of October, stealing lanterns, a kettle, and a lamp worth over 3,500 UAH. He then continued his criminal activities in the home of a 72-year-old woman, where he threatened her with physical harm and took money, a blender, a phone, an electric stove, a blanket, and food, causing losses exceeding 9,700 UAH.
The victims called the police, who quickly conducted investigative actions and identified the offender. It turned out that he had prior convictions for theft and robbery.
During a search of the man's residence, police seized part of the stolen property. The rest had been sold, with the money spent on personal needs.
Police arrested the perpetrator, and the court chose to detain him as a preventive measure.
As reported by the acting head of the police department, investigators gathered sufficient evidence for the charges. The man has been accused of theft committed during wartime with breaking and entering. The maximum penalty for these crimes is up to ten years in prison.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The prosecution will be supported by the district prosecutor's office.
