Explosion in Odesa Apartment: Two Injured
Two individuals were injured. The incident has been classified under several articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
Yesterday evening, December 3, explosions were heard in an apartment of a high-rise building in the Peresyp district of Odesa. A local resident reported this to the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a quarrel arose between a 34-year-old woman and her 44-year-old husband, during which the latter used two munitions, which are preliminarily identified as grenades. Both spouses sustained injuries and were hospitalized.
The scene was attended by the investigative operational group of the local police unit, specialists from the regional explosives service, medical staff, and rescuers.
Investigators have initiated two criminal proceedings for attempted murder, committed in a manner dangerous to many individuals (Part 2 Article 15, paragraph 5, Part 2 Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and illegal handling of munitions (Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Note: the maximum penalty for these crimes is life imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. All circumstances are being established.
