Tragic Road Incident in Odesa Region
Yesterday, December 3rd, an unfortunate car accident occurred on Kishinyvskaya Street in one of the villages of the Molodiv community in the Odesa region.
According to Dmitry Slyuta, head of the transport crime investigation department of the Odesa region's police, it was preliminarily established that a 23-year-old driver of a car failed to yield to a 16-year-old motorcyclist while making a left turn.
Sadly, as a result of the collision, both the motorcyclist and his 15-year-old passenger died at the scene.
The driver of the car was tested for intoxication and was found to be sober.
Investigators have entered the details into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns violations of traffic safety rules leading to the death of several persons. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years, with a ban on driving for up to three years.
The police have detained the car driver under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of informing him of the suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
A series of judicial examinations will be conducted within the framework of the proceedings. All circumstances surrounding the tragic event are being established. The investigation is ongoing.
