Fatal Collision on Kyiv-Odesa Highway
A tragic traffic incident took place yesterday, November 25, around 9 PM on the Kyiv-Odesa highway, near the village of Bolharka in the Odesa region.
According to Dmytro Slyuta, the head of the transport crime investigation department of the Odesa regional police, preliminary findings suggest that a 27-year-old female driver of a «BMW» failed to maintain a safe speed and distance, resulting in a collision with a «Volvo» truck driven by a 31-year-old man.
Unfortunately, the driver of the passenger car died at the scene, while her 21-year-old passenger sustained various injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The truck driver was unharmed, and a sobriety test indicated he was sober.
Investigative and operational teams from the Odesa police were present at the scene.
Investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning violations of traffic safety rules that resulted in death.
As part of the investigation, several forensic examinations will be conducted. The investigation is ongoing, and all circumstances surrounding the accident will be determined.
Police once again urge drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, not exceed speed limits, and remain vigilant on the road.
