Arrest of a Criminal: New Details of the Case
Investigators have charged a man with several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, facing up to eight years in prison.
A 29-year-old resident of Odesa was caught selling three bodies of F-1 hand grenades and their fuses, receiving 10,000 hryvnias for the dangerous goods.
Furthermore, it was discovered that he was involved in a series of thefts. For instance, in a supermarket, he stole starter packs of mobile operators, a magnetic holder at a market, and an external battery at a gas station. In the Kyiv district of Odesa, he stole a modern mobile phone, and in the Peresyp district, he took a drone, baby monitors, and even a creative sand set for children.
He also attempted to steal multi-tools and knives from a tech store and deceived a pawnshop employee into giving him two used phones, pretending he wanted to buy them.
As a result of his actions, the victims incurred over 215,000 hryvnias in damages. Some of the stolen property was returned to the owners, while the rest is still being tracked.
During searches, law enforcement found dangerous psychoactive substances including 4-MMC, PVP, and MDMA, which he kept for personal use.
The substances and ammunition were sent for forensic examination, which confirmed their danger.
The man already had a criminal record for illegal drug possession and was facing charges for theft, arson, and illegal handling of weapons.
Gathering sufficient evidence, the police charged him under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal acquisition, storage, carrying, and trafficking of ammunition);
- Part 4 of Article 185 (intentional theft of others' property during wartime);
- Part 2 of Article 190 (fraud);
- Parts 1, 2 of Article 309 (illegal acquisition and storage of psychoactive substances).
The maximum penalty the offender faces is 8 years in prison.
The operation was conducted by police officers with the involvement of explosives specialists. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
