Tragic Railway Incident in Odesa Region

24 November 2025

The incident took place on November 23 at approximately 5:30 PM at the Myhaieve railway station in the Odesa region.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 48-year-old local woman was crossing the tracks when a freight train approached. The train driver applied emergency brakes upon noticing her, but it was not enough to prevent the collision. Sadly, the woman died at the scene.
The exact cause of death will be determined following a forensic examination.
Officers from the police department No. 1 of the Odesa district are investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
Discussions are ongoing regarding the inclusion of information in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 3 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violating safety rules of railway transport leading to a person's death).
We urge citizens to strictly follow railway safety rules. Cross the tracks only at designated locations, stay alert, and never ignore warning signals.
