Court Proceedings Against Thieves in Odesa Region
Three individuals from the Odesa region, caught committing thefts, will soon appear in court. The criminals stole mobile phones, money from victims, and property belonging to Ukrzaliznytsia. One of the suspects has already received a court verdict.
In March, a 22-year-old resident of Izmail, while walking through the city, noticed a woman relaxing on a bench and seized the opportunity to take her phone, causing her nearly 4,000 hryvnias in damages.
In October, a 62-year-old man, receiving treatment in a hospital, took over 7,000 hryvnias from his sleeping roommate's bag.
Additionally, a 27-year-old man from the Bereziv district stole 22 inspection covers from freight train wheels last month, causing over 11,000 hryvnias in damages to Ukrzaliznytsia.
In total, they stole property worth over 22,000 hryvnias.
The police quickly identified the offenders and recovered all the stolen items. The criminals admitted their guilt.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the police investigators, under the supervision of the prosecutor's office, charged the suspects with thefts committed during martial law.
Investigations regarding the residents of the Izmail district have been completed, and indictment acts have been sent to court.
The court has already reviewed the case of the younger offender and sentenced him to five years in prison with a probation period of one year. During this probation, he must regularly report to the probation authority.
The indictment against the older offender is currently under consideration in court.
