Counterfeit Clothing Network Uncovered in Odesa
A 43-year-old resident of Odesa established a network of stores through which he sold counterfeit goods, illegally using trademarks of well-known sports brands. The investigation is ongoing, supported by the Strategic Investigations Department in the Odesa region and detectives from the Territorial Directorate of the Bureau of Economic Security in the area.
The organizer opened stores not only in Odesa but also in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia regions. The goods were sourced from abroad and purchased at wholesale markets. Subsequently, with the help of recruited individuals, sports goods were sold online and in physical stores.
The organizer's team included three women and three men who were responsible for logistics, administration, and other processes.
During authorized searches, law enforcement seized over 23,000 units of clothing and footwear from well-known brands, more than 400,000 hryvnias in cash, computer equipment, accounting documents, and rough notes.
The total value of the seized items amounts to 33.4 million UAH.
The investigation into the activities of this group is ongoing under part 3 of Article 229 (illegal use of a trademark for goods and services) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Investigative actions are being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
