Arrests Made for Theft in Odesa
Two local residents, aged 25 and 38, have been implicated in a criminal case. Charges have been brought against them, and preventive measures have been established. The offenders face imprisonment.
The incidents occurred in the Primorsky district of Odesa. The younger perpetrator snatched a mobile phone from a 53-year-old man on Hretska Street. The older one similarly took a phone from a 56-year-old woman on Vytaliya Blazhka Lane.
After committing the crimes, the offenders fled the scene. The total damage caused to the victims is over 11 thousand hryvnias.
The victims contacted the police for assistance. The very next day, law enforcement identified the criminals, located, and detained them. One of the offenders already had a criminal record for a similar offense.
The 38-year-old sold the stolen property. The 25-year-old also planned to sell the stolen device but accidentally broke it. Police seized the mobile phones as material evidence.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the investigators informed the suspects of their charges related to the open theft of another's property, classified as robbery committed under martial law, particularly repeat offenses. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years. The court has chosen a preventive measure of detention with the right to bail.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing at Police Department No. 2 and Police Station No. 1 of the Odesa District Police under the procedural guidance of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office.
