A tragic incident took place on October 17 around 7:00 AM on the highway near the village of Sukhy Lyman in the Odesa region. Two military personnel lost their lives, aged 34 and 36.
According to Dmitro Slyuta, head of the transport crime investigation department, it has been preliminarily established that a 63-year-old truck driver ran over the military personnel who were near a mobile checkpoint. The driver claimed he did not see them.
Unfortunately, one victim died at the scene, and the other in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
A sobriety test indicated that the driver was sober.
The investigative team of the Odesa region police is working to establish all the circumstances of the event. The issue of entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations and detaining the driver is being resolved.
