Crackdown on Drug Syndicate: Arrests and Seizures
During a large-scale operation, law enforcement dismantled two drug laboratories and three warehouses filled with dangerous precursors. They seized 44 explosive devices, 30 kg of salts, and over 5,000 liters of precursors.
The criminal group operated like a manufacturing company, possessing its own amphetamine production, quality control systems, accounting, and logistics. Utilizing modern technology, postal services, and encrypted communication channels, they concealed warehouses and laboratories, producing over 15 kg of psychotropic substances monthly.
The organization had a clear structure and established communication. It consisted of thirteen individuals from Kherson, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions. Two members operating in Ukraine fully established technological processes, following instructions from an unidentified organizer with a Russian phone number, coordinating their activities via messenger.
Each member of the group had clearly defined roles. Some were involved in the manufacturing and packaging of psychotropic substances, others supplied precursors and equipment, while certain members organized transportation and managed storage and sales.
Organizers trained their operatives not only to confidentially package and send the finished “product” but also to independently produce it according to detailed technological instructions. They possessed specialized knowledge in chemistry or utilized professional advice from open sources, which allowed them to enhance production processes. Coordination among participants was conducted via the Telegram messenger, where law enforcement documented numerous chats discussing manufacturing, packaging, and shipping technologies.
Psychotropics were distributed through delivery services, masking their true nature. Participants used fictitious identities to receive packages. Investigators from the Main Investigative Department of the National Police, with operational support from the Department for Combating Drug Crime and the Security Service of Ukraine, conducted searches at the residences of suspects, seizing laboratory equipment, reactors, 44 explosive devices, 700 liters of chemical compounds, 5,000 liters of precursors, 30 kg of alpha-PVP salts, and other physical evidence.
All members of the organized group have been charged with illegal production and distribution of psychotropic substances, punishable under the Criminal Code of Ukraine with a potential sentence of up to twelve years imprisonment and asset confiscation. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify the organizer with the Russian phone number.
