The court has issued a sentence of six years in prison, prohibiting the defendant from holding positions related to the upbringing of children. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
The crime occurred in 2023 when a 7-year-old girl visited her grandfather. The 72-year-old man took advantage of the situation and lured her to the garage, where he committed unlawful acts. The child told her family, who then reported it to the police.
As part of the criminal proceedings, investigators gathered sufficient evidence to file charges, and the indictment was submitted to the court.
After reviewing the case materials and considering the evidence presented by the police, the court found the defendant guilty of committing sexual violence against a person under the age of fourteen, according to part 4 of Article 153 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to six years in prison with a prohibition on engaging in activities related to children.
The prosecution was supported by prosecutors from the department for the protection of children's rights and combating domestic violence, who conducted the pre-trial investigation.
The convicted individual was taken into custody in the courtroom.
The verdict can be appealed and comes into force after the expiration of the appeal submission period if no appeal has been filed.
