Illegal Cannabis Cultivation Case Sent to Court

A 52-year-old man was arrested in the Podilsk district for cultivating illegal narcotic plants. Law enforcement seized nearly 500 cannabis plants, putting the suspect at risk of imprisonment.
Upon receiving information about the illegal activities, police conducted a search at the suspect's residence. During the search, 471 cannabis plants were discovered on the property.
According to the suspect, who is a drug addict, he was growing the plants for personal use.
The seized plants were sent for examination, which confirmed the presence of narcotic substances. These are only permitted for medical or scientific use.
Based on the collected evidence, the suspect was charged under part 2 of article 310 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal cultivation of more than 50 plants. The maximum penalty is up to seven years in prison.
The indictment has already been submitted to the court. The Podilsk District Prosecutor's Office will represent the prosecution in court, having conducted the pre-trial investigation.
