Massive Drug Crime Operation Unveiled

11 September 2025

Law enforcement officials conducted extensive searches across 23 regions of Ukraine, uncovering various illegal activities related to cannabis and poppy cultivation. Over 700 kg of cannabis and more than 15,000 plants were seized, leading to the suspicion of 38 individuals involved in criminal organizations.
The first phase of the special operation began in August, followed by a second phase in September, during which police executed over 150 searches.
As a result of investigative actions, around 15,000 plants were destroyed, alongside the seizure of 740 kg of cannabis and 15 kg of the psychotropic substance alpha-PVP. The measures taken prevented approximately 3.7 tons of narcotics from reaching the black market, potentially yielding over 185 million hryvnias in profits for the criminals.
The suspects face up to 12 years in prison.
In Vinnytsia, six members of a drug gang were arrested for illegal cannabis cultivation. In Volyn, a group of four was dismantled for manufacturing drugs by mixing them with food products. In Cherkasy, authorities dismantled a drug scheme led by a 39-year-old man. The operation was carried out with support from the prosecutor’s office and other law enforcement agencies.
