In Izmail, police have detained a driver involved in a fatal traffic accident. The incident occurred on August 5 around 10 PM on Independence Avenue.
According to Dmitry Slyuta, head of the transport crime investigation department of the Odesa region police, a 19-year-old driver of a «BMW» hit a 22-year-old woman crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian died as a result of the accident.
The driver was unharmed, and a sobriety test showed he was sober.
Investigators have entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning violations of road safety rules that resulted in the death of a victim.
The suspect has been detained pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The question of whether to formally charge the man and choose a preventive measure is being considered.
A series of forensic examinations will be conducted as part of the case. The investigation is ongoing.

The police once again urge all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules: do not exceed the speed limit, carefully monitor the road situation, and be cautious.
