Traffic Accidents in Odessa Region: Consequences for Drivers

05 September 2025

Several traffic accidents have occurred in the Odessa region, drawing police attention. In one case, a driver was under the influence of alcohol, while in another, speed limits were exceeded. The police initiated investigations and charged the drivers, potentially facing penalties including fines and prison time.
The first accident took place in Izmail. Law enforcement determined that a 29-year-old resident of the Saf'yanyiv community was driving a 'VAZ' car while intoxicated. He lost control, which led to the vehicle leaving the road and overturning. A 36-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries, including fractures of the nose and ribs. The driver was unharmed, but his blood alcohol content was found to be 1.55 ppm, significantly exceeding the limit.
The second accident happened near the village of Prymorske. Police found that a 40-year-old driver of a 'Mercedes-Benz' exceeded the speed limit and lost control during a curve, causing the vehicle to overturn. His 29-year-old female passenger also suffered moderate injuries. The driver was unharmed and sober.
Law enforcement gathered sufficient evidence to charge the drivers with violating traffic safety rules, resulting in injuries.
The cases have been referred to court, and the drivers face up to three years of imprisonment and a ban from driving for up to five years.

The police once again urge drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules. Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, do not exceed speed limits, and pay close attention to road conditions.
