A traffic accident occurred yesterday, September 4, in the evening on Angarska Street.
According to Dmitro Slyuta, head of the transport crime investigation department at the Odesa Regional Police, preliminary investigations revealed that a 45-year-old driver of a «Volkswagen Golf» struck a 59-year-old woman while she was crossing the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing.
The victim was taken to a medical facility, but unfortunately, she passed away.
The investigative team working on road traffic incidents was present at the scene. The driver was tested for sobriety – he was found to be sober.
Investigators have entered details into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This pertains to violations of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation that resulted in the death of the victim. A series of expert examinations will be conducted as part of the proceedings. All circumstances of the event are being established.
Police once again urge all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules. It is particularly important to be cautious and attentive to the road situation.
