This morning, August 27, a traffic accident occurred on Serednofontanska Street in Odesa. According to the head of the transport crime investigation department of the Odesa regional police, Dmytro Slyuta, an 83-year-old driver of a «KIA» hit a 17-year-old girl while she was crossing the road at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing.  Medical personnel transported the pedestrian to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a closed head injury, concussion, chest contusion, and abrasions.

Police checked the driver for intoxication, and the results confirmed that he was sober. The investigative team and patrol officers worked at the scene.

Currently, authorities are considering entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which qualifies as a violation of traffic safety rules that led to moderate bodily harm to the victim.

All circumstances of the accident are being established. We emphasize the importance of strictly adhering to traffic rules.

Drivers: carefully observe the road situation, reduce speed near pedestrian crossings. Pedestrians: cross the roadway only in designated areas, ensuring that drivers see you and stop to let you pass.
