Conviction of an Agent for Treason in Odesa Region
Based on the case materials, prosecutors from the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office have convicted a 27-year-old resident of the city of Izmail for treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The court established that the man was gathering and transmitting information to Russian intelligence services regarding the locations of military units, troop movements, and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Izmail district. For carrying out such 'tasks,' he received monetary compensation.
To collect information, the convicted individual disguised himself in women's clothing, roamed the area, and covertly recorded Ukrainian military sites, subsequently reporting to his curator via text messages, photographs, and markings on electronic maps.
The agent was apprehended in January 2025. During a search, a mobile phone with evidence of his illegal activities was seized from him.
The man awaited his verdict in detention. The pre-trial investigation and operational support in the criminal proceedings were conducted by the SBU in the Odesa region.
