Ukrainian Security Service Uncovers Spy Network in Odesa Region
The Ukrainian security agencies have successfully identified and dismantled a spy network operating in the Odesa region that was providing information on targets for airstrikes from Russia.
As a result of a comprehensive operation, four individuals involved in the hostile network were arrested, including a key agent.
These individuals were gathering data on the storage facilities of weapons and military equipment of Ukrainian forces, as well as investigating locations of air defense units to aid Russian attacks.
During the investigation, it was revealed that one of the agents was a security guard at a sports school, recruited through an acquaintance from Crimea who collaborates with Russian intelligence.
The agent, following FSB instructions, formed his own group of informants, including his friends: a coach, a taxi driver, and his wife.
The network's members monitored the movement of military vehicles and gathered information from local residents during casual conversations.
Collected data was transmitted through personal meetings or by phone using code words for secrecy.
The Security Service of Ukraine uncovered this group at the early stages of their activities, documenting all their actions.
The suspects have been charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 (treason);
- Part 2 of Article 114-2 (dissemination of information about the movement of the Armed Forces).
The offenders are held in custody without the right to bail, facing life imprisonment with property confiscation. The operation was conducted under the oversight of the regional prosecutor's office.
