Arrest of a Criminal with Explosives in Chornomorsk

Law enforcement officers uncovered a 27-year-old resident of Chornomorsk involved in illegal dealings with ammunition and explosives. The suspect was apprehended immediately after attempting to sell dangerous items. He faces up to seven years in prison for his actions.

The police documented and halted the man's unlawful activities. It was established that he was illegally storing explosive materials and seeking buyers.

Following the initiation of a criminal investigation, police conducted operational measures that resulted in the arrest of the criminal after he sold dangerous goods on the streets of Chornomorsk.

Investigators, along with specialists from the explosive ordnance service, seized 157 rounds of various calibers, four grenades, six fuses, and various explosive substances from the scene.

Additionally, during a sanctioned search at the suspect's residence, more grenades and fuses were discovered. All seized items were sent for expert examination. The police also confiscated 13,000 hryvnias received from the transaction.

Police Chief Andriy Korotchenko stated that with sufficient evidence, charges were brought against the suspect for illegal storage, sale, and possession of ammunition. This crime falls under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and is punishable by up to seven years in prison. The court has chosen to remand the suspect in custody with the option of bail set at 151,400 hryvnias.

The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is establishing the supply channels for the explosives. The procedural supervision is being carried out by the Chornomorsk District Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement reminds that according to the law, a person who voluntarily surrenders explosives or firearms is not subject to criminal liability.
