A young man in Odesa was the victim of an aggressive attack with a hammer. The assailant, who struck him on the head, is now under investigation for multiple criminal charges. He faces a lengthy prison sentence.

The incident occurred in June at midnight in the Kyiv district. A 20-year-old local resident was topping up his account at a payment terminal when a drunken stranger approached him and began to cause a scene. After refusing to give a cigarette, the young man was struck on the head with a hammer.

The assailant fled, and the victim sought help from the police and medical services. Doctors diagnosed him with serious injuries, including skull fractures. A forensic examination confirmed these injuries as severe.

The police quickly located the attacker - a 36-year-old local man, from whom a hammer was seized for examination.

“Having gathered all the necessary evidence, we officially charged him with intentional serious bodily injury and hooliganism, which could lead to a prison sentence of up to eight years,” stated Oleg Zoshchuk, head of the investigation department.
