Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, have concluded the pre-trial investigation regarding a former commander of a military unit in the Odesa region who falsely registered an acquaintance for a 'fake' service.

At the end of 2022, in an attempt to 'assist' a friend with mobilization, this official unjustifiably appointed him as a mechanic in his military unit. For over six months, the friend received payments while actually continuing to engage in his business activities in the rear.

Thanks to the firm stance of the DBR, the offenders were exposed. Currently, the damages inflicted have been fully compensated to the state.

The official is accused of abusing his office (part 1 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The indictment has been sent to the court.

The sanctions under this article provide for a punishment of up to three years of imprisonment.

The prosecution is overseen by the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Southern region.
