Arsonist of Military Vehicles Sentenced in Odesa
In Odesa, a verdict has been issued against an arsonist targeting military vehicles. The criminal will serve 5 years in prison for obstructing the lawful activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and for property damage. His intention was to earn money from Russian handlers by destroying transport vehicles.
The Odesa regional prosecutor's office reported that they supported the prosecution in court against the arsonist of military vehicles. The court found the 22-year-old resident of Odesa guilty and sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment for obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces and for intentional destruction and damage to property.
"Prosecutors proved in court that the man established contact via Telegram with a representative of the aggressor state, who suggested he could "earn extra money" by setting fire to vehicles belonging to the Armed Forces or marked with military insignia.
Agreeing to cooperate, the offender followed a well-established scheme. He would locate vehicles in the city, photograph them for confirmation, then receive "approval" for arson. He would then douse the cars with a flammable mixture, set them on fire, and record the act on video. He sent the videos to the client as "reports" to receive payment", the statement says.
The arsonist managed to destroy 3 vehicles used by Ukrainian defenders. The total amount of damages exceeded half a million hryvnias.
