Investigation Launched for Animal Cruelty Incident at Odessa Beach

In the Odessa region, the police have initiated a criminal investigation into an incident of animal cruelty that occurred on a beach. The report about the event was received by the authorities from eyewitnesses on July 22.

A response team from Police Department No. 4 quickly arrived at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that a 38-year-old man attempted to drown a dog in the sea. Thanks to the actions of concerned citizens, the animal was rescued, after which witnesses called the police.

The dog has been taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment.

Investigators have entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 299 (animal cruelty) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and have begun pre-trial proceedings.

All circumstances surrounding the incident are being established.

The procedural oversight of the criminal case is being conducted by the Dobroslav District Prosecutor's Office.

It is important to note that the current legislation provides for imprisonment for animal cruelty offenses.
