Court Proceedings Against Odessa Woman for Drug Trafficking

21 July 2025

A 30-year-old resident of Odessa is set to face trial for her involvement in illegal activities related to dangerous psychotropic substances. The investigation has concluded, and charges have been filed in court. She faces up to 10 years in prison with asset confiscation.

The police department of Odessa uncovered her criminal activities in April this year. Investigators documented how the suspect sold a dangerous psychotropic substance, PVP, to a regular client on two occasions, which is prohibited by law. The offender was apprehended during the second transaction.

During the arrest, the police seized the drugs and a thousand hryvnias received from the sale. A personal search of the woman revealed a similar substance intended for her own use. Additionally, during a sanctioned search of her residence, PVP, scales, and other items of evidentiary value were also found.

All substances were sent for forensic examination, which confirmed their hazardous nature.

A preventive measure of detention was imposed while the investigation was ongoing. The woman has been charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

- Part 2 of Article 307 (illegal acquisition, storage for the purpose of sale, and illegal sale of especially dangerous psychotropic substances, committed repeatedly);

- Part 1 of Article 309 (illegal acquisition and storage of psychotropic substances without intent to sell).

The maximum penalty for these offenses is up to 10 years of imprisonment with asset confiscation. The prosecution will be supported by the Dobroslav District Prosecutor's Office in court.
