Authorities in the Bolhrad district of Odesa have initiated a criminal investigation following a motorcycle accident that left the rider injured. The incident occurred yesterday, July 18, during the day in a locality of the Kubey community.

Preliminary investigations by the Bolhrad police revealed that a 72-year-old driver of a car failed to ensure safety while merging from the roadside and did not yield to a 47-year-old motorcyclist, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and was transported to the hospital, while the car driver remained unharmed.

Both drivers were tested for alcohol, and the results indicated they were sober.

The police have entered details of the case into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to violations of road safety rules leading to moderate bodily injury.

A series of forensic examinations will be conducted as part of the investigation. The vehicles involved have been seized. All circumstances of the traffic accident are being determined.

Law enforcement urges drivers to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and to be attentive to road conditions before making any maneuvers.
