Russian Agent Arrested in Odesa: Terror Attack Averted

18 July 2025

In Odesa, law enforcement prevented a new terror attack by arresting a Russian agent attempting to carry out an explosion at the regional TCC.

Actions taken by the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police successfully averted a potential tragedy. The woman, acting on orders from the enemy, aimed to detonate a homemade explosive device (HED) in an administrative building during peak hours when many people were present.

On July 17, she planned to bring the explosive into the building during the busiest time of day.

Thanks to the proactive measures of law enforcement, the terrorist was apprehended before she could execute her malicious plan.

The arrested individual turned out to be a 53-year-old woman from Volyn, who had been recruited remotely by Russian intelligence.

She arrived in Odesa, conducted reconnaissance, and received coordinates for the location of the explosive device.

Under the pretext of searching for her supposedly missing nephew, she intended to visit the military enlistment office.

During the arrest, a controlled detonation of the explosive in her backpack took place. Bomb technicians were present at the scene.

Investigators are preparing charges in accordance with the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The offender faces up to 12 years in prison.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with the regional prosecutor's office.
