On July 8, early in the morning, a shooting occurred in the Desnyansky district of Kyiv, resulting in a man's death.

The investigation of this brazen crime involved officers from the capital's police and local units, investigators, and forensic experts.

Authorities determined that the victim, a 1977-born local resident, was inside a minibus when an unknown assailant approached and shot him twice. He died at the scene from his injuries.

“As a result of a special operation, we located and seized the weapon used in the crime, which the perpetrator discarded. After the incident, the suspect used disguises and left for Odesa the same day. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the police in Kyiv and Odesa, we arrested the suspect in a hotel. He turned out to be a 41-year-old foreign national. We are currently exploring several versions,” said Andriy Harastiuk, head of the Kyiv criminal police.

Investigators from the Desnyansky Police Department, under the guidance of the local prosecutor's office, have charged the suspect with premeditated murder. The suspect will remain in custody, facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and authorities are establishing all circumstances and potential accomplices involved in the crime.
