Tragic Dispute Between Neighbors Leads to Fire Incident
During a quarrel, a woman doused a man with a flammable liquid and ignited him, which may result in a 15-year prison sentence.
The incident occurred on July 10 in the basement of an apartment building in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. The victim called for help himself, dialling emergency services at 102.
Authorities and medical personnel arrived at the scene. Doctors hospitalized the 68-year-old man with 30% burns on his body. Police conducted a crime scene investigation, interviewed local residents, and discovered that the victim had been drinking with a 34-year-old neighbor. During their gathering, a conflict arose, during which the woman grabbed a paint thinner she found on the stairs, doused the man, and set him on fire before fleeing.
Law enforcement collected several pieces of evidence from the scene for forensic examination and detained the suspect.
Investigators opened a criminal case and charged her with attempted murder. Currently, a decision is being made regarding a preventive measure for the suspect. Under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, she faces imprisonment for up to 15 years.
The investigation continues under the supervision of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
