This morning, June 16, a tragic incident occurred on the 55th kilometer of the highway connecting Balta and Kryve Ozero.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that a 44-year-old driver of a «VAZ» vehicle, heading towards Balta, veered into the oncoming lane on a curved section of the road, colliding with a «VOLVO» truck with a trailer. The driver of the car succumbed to his injuries.

The 50-year-old truck driver was unharmed. A sobriety test indicated he was sober.

Information regarding the incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning violations of road safety regulations causing death.

As part of the criminal proceedings, investigators seized the vehicles and appointed several forensic examinations. All circumstances surrounding the incident are being established.

The police urge drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules, including not exceeding speed limits, avoiding sharp maneuvers, and closely monitoring road conditions, especially in areas with limited visibility.
