Arrests Made for Severe Bodily Harm in Odesa Region
In the Odesa region, law enforcement officers apprehended two men for inflicting severe bodily harm on their fellow villagers. The incidents occurred in the Berezivka and Rozdilna districts, where the assailants used shovels to attack their victims. The suspects have been charged, facing potential imprisonment.
The police press service reported that in the Berezivka district, during a drinking gathering at a private residence, a conflict erupted between a 57-year-old host and his 46-year-old acquaintance. During the argument, the guest struck the host with a shovel, resulting in hospitalization for the injured party.
In the Rozdilna district, under similar circumstances, a 57-year-old man struck his 49-year-old civil partner with a shovel on the head. The victim was also taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Neighbors reported these incidents to the police. Investigators detained the offenders in accordance with legal procedures and charged them with intentional severe bodily harm that is dangerous to life, based on collected evidence and the diagnosed injuries of the victims.
According to part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this crime carries a penalty of up to eight years of imprisonment. Upon the police's request, the court has selected detention as a preventive measure for the suspects.
