New Educational Partnership: University and Schools Collaboration
The launch of a new educational program is set for the next academic year. Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and the rector of ONU, Vyacheslav Truba, signed a memorandum of cooperation. This initiative has been introduced by the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council. The primary goal of this collaboration is to enhance student interest in scientific fields and attract promising young talents.
According to the memorandum, schools will be able to sign individual contracts with the university to engage instructors in physics and other scientific disciplines. The collaboration will cover both pre-profile training (grades 7-9) and profile education (grades 10-11). There are also plans to organize research activities for students showing aptitude in relevant areas.
The city council noted that the Institute of Physics possesses the necessary resources—qualified specialists and well-equipped laboratories—to ensure quality education. Meanwhile, schools face a shortage of qualified teachers in natural sciences, particularly physicists, so this project will help partially address the staffing issues in educational institutions.
