Insightful Event for High School Students with Crime Scene Experts
Recently, an educational event was organized for students at a local high school by forensic specialists from the Odessa District Police Department.
The experts shared various techniques for collecting and preserving evidence that play a crucial role in solving crimes. Special emphasis was placed on the methods of documenting traces left by offenders at crime scenes. Following this, the forensic specialists showcased the contents of their professional kits and taught the students how to properly take fingerprints and explained the differences between them.
«Every interested student had the chance to try their hand as a forensic expert by conducting fingerprinting on a classmate. The students quickly realized that quality evidence collection is key to solving crimes, thus they approached the task responsibly, as if they were truly dealing with a criminal», said Police Captain Maxim Pasichny.
The students were particularly interested in the personal experiences of the police officers, leading to discussions about real-life cases that highlighted the importance of prompt and effective work by forensics in investigating serious crimes. Additionally, the officers presented a video showcasing the work of a forensic expert from the National Police of Ukraine involved in high-profile cases, including inspections of rocket strike sites in recently liberated areas.
Each year, graduates face the challenging task of choosing a profession, so at the conclusion of the meeting, the officers informed prospective students about the training opportunities in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which prepare police officers and facilitate their employment in territorial police divisions.
«I believe such meetings help young people consciously choose their future profession, so I would be glad if any of the high school students decide to join the ranks of the National Police of Ukraine after this event», concluded Police Lieutenant Julia Sokerchak.
