Promoting Road Safety for Children in Odesa

16 September 2025

The city of Odesa has launched a month-long campaign titled «Attention! Children on the Road!».

The primary aim of this initiative is to prevent road traffic injuries among children, instill safe behavior on roads, and engage youth in learning and adhering to traffic rules, fostering a conscious approach to their own safety.

In the schools of the Peresyp district, class hours were held on themes such as «Follow the Rules – Save Lives» and «Know the Traffic Signs – Avoid Trouble», where students discussed road behavior rules, watched educational videos, and participated in quizzes.

There were also exhibitions of children's drawings and creative works on themes like «Safe Country!», «Attention! Children on the Road!», and «Traffic Rules Alphabet».

Class teachers conducted discussions on «My Safe Journey to Knowledge» and assisted children in developing individual safe route maps to and from school.

An exciting moment for students was getting acquainted with a real police vehicle. Together with officers, children reviewed pedestrian rules and reinforced their traffic knowledge through games like «I am a Regulator» and «Safety on the Road».

Inspectors explained the importance of using reflective elements at night and emphasized rules for crossing streets and using public transport in an engaging manner.

For preschoolers, thematic sessions were held under titles like «Attention! Children on the Road», «Know the Traffic Signs – Avoid Trouble», and «I am a Little Pedestrian», where they learned basic pedestrian rules and the meanings of traffic signs.
