Reviving Collecting in Odesa
On December 23, 2024, the «#ARTODESSA» gallery at the Summer Theater of the City Garden hosted the conference titled «Odesa Collections».
The event gathered Odesa collectors, cultural experts, and local historians.
The primary goal of the conference was to revive the tradition of collaboration among collectors in Odesa to actively address the challenges of preserving Ukraine's historical and cultural heritage.
Participants discussed topics related to the prospects for preserving private collections, opportunities for their exhibition, museification, and cataloging. A significant aspect highlighted was the need for scientific research on collections.
Speakers at the event included: Ivan Liptuga, Felix Kohrikht, Semen Kantor, Anna Golubovska, Taras Maksymiuk, Oleksandr Friedman, Serhiy Sedyh, Dmytro Khamula, Denys Mitskevych, Oleksandr Surylov, Yulia Hurynenko, and Kateryna Pimenova.
As a result of the conference, a publication on collecting titled «The Universe Called Odesa» is being prepared for release.
The conference was organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration of the Odesa City Council.
