Celebrating Japanese Culture in Odessa
The city of Odessa is hosting Japanese culture days to commemorate the 60th anniversary of its partnership with Yokohama, Japan.
During these days, various artistic and educational events will take place under the title «Japan – the Land of the Rising Sun». Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese culture through discussions, art lessons, workshops, creative exhibitions, animation screenings, and tea ceremonies.
The main events will kick off on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Passage, 1a).
Visitors will be able to explore the richness of Japanese culture and the development of friendly ties between our cities.
«Our relationship with Yokohama is a story of how, despite distance, language differences, and traditions, cities can be close at heart», emphasized Odessa’s mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an exhibition titled «Mysterious Japan through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists» will be held in the hall of Odessa City Hall (Bourse Square, 1).
This event is organized with the support of the Faculty of Artistic Graphics at the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynskyi and the Municipal Institution «City Art Gallery».
