Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleshunov was a remarkable individual, an engineer, and a celebrated mountaineer. A pass in the Eastern Pamirs and a peak at the junction of the Garmo and Vavilov glaciers bear his name. Collecting art pieces was also a significant part of his life.
At the end of his life, he donated his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was opened in Odessa, which has been named after O. V. Bleshunov since 1992.
This unique collection boasts over 10,000 items, including world-class rarities, forming part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. In recognition of Alexander Volodymyrovych's contributions to the city, his star was ceremoniously unveiled on the Alley of Stars in Odessa on September 2, 2019.
