New UKF Initiative to Support Regional Culture
In the Odesa and Sumy regions, new regional representatives of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation will soon be established to assist local cultural communities in preparing grant applications and finding partners. This was announced in a press release provided by Suspilne Culture.
The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation has announced the creation of a network of regional representatives aimed at strengthening ties between the foundation and local cultural communities. The first phase of the project will be implemented in the Odesa and Sumy regions.
Aнастасія Образцова, the executive director of the UKF, pointed out that the selection of regions was based on statistical data: applicants from these areas show high activity, but only 1-5 projects are realized. She emphasized that the main goal of this initiative is to help local communities enhance their capabilities and increase the number of successful projects.
"We want every region to have its successful cultural case that inspires others and shows that significant changes begin locally."
UKF representatives will help cultural communities better understand the requirements of grant programs, prepare higher-quality applications, find partners, and realize their ideas.
What is UKF?
The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (UKF) is a state investor in the development of culture and creative industries, established in 2017 under the Law of Ukraine "On the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation".
Project support is provided on a competitive basis across seven sectors:
- audio arts;
- visual arts;
- audiovisual arts;
- cultural heritage;
- literature;
- performative and stage arts;
- cultural and creative industries.
In eight years of operation, the foundation has financed 2951 projects, with total investments exceeding 2 billion hryvnias, reaching an audience of 56 million people. According to the state budget project for 2026, 410.9 million UAH is planned to be allocated to the UKF (250.7 million in 2025). Additionally, next year, in the ninth grant season, separate grants for audiovisual creators will be established—these grant programs will operate independently of the UKF's cooperation with the State Film Agency and the Ministry of Culture.
