The costume collection blends traditional Ukrainian attire with avant-garde silhouettes and materials. Designers have moved away from clichéd trousers and embroidered shirts, creating sleek outfits that reflect the spirit of the Cossack era through a contemporary lens.
The choreography retains the energy of folk dances while discarding stereotypes and clichéd movements. An original dance style combines elements of modern ballet and ethnic plastic arts, emphasizing the patriotic themes of the opera.
The goal of the project is to convey the story of Cossacks and their struggle for freedom to the modern audience while preserving the authenticity of the original. The production appeals to the values of independence and courage, highlighting their relevance in today's context.
