New Year Preparations in Odesa
In Odesa, preparations for the New Year and Christmas festivities are underway. Yesterday, the installation of the city’s main Christmas tree began on Deribasivska Street.
This year’s tree stands 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. At its top, a traditional star will be placed. Notably, the tree will be adorned with elements of Ukrainian ornamentation and blue-and-yellow ribbons.
The official opening is scheduled for December 6 – St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, the opening of Odesa’s main Christmas tree and a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture will take place. Guests can look forward to a concert by the Odesa Municipal Brass Band named after O. Salik, along with performances by talented children from the city’s cultural institutions. Festive events will continue throughout the New Year period at various municipal venues, including the zoo», noted Ivan Liptuga, Director of the Department of Culture, International Cooperation and European Integration.
Due to martial law and curfew, mass street celebrations for New Year’s Eve are not planned.
