Art and Memory: Celebrating Museum Day 2025
On May 18, 2025, the world celebrated International Museum Day, highlighting the essential role of museums in preserving cultural heritage and education.
In over 40 countries, the «Night of Museums» took place, transforming museums into venues for art and open dialogue.
More than 3,000 cultural institutions opened their doors to visitors, offering a variety of programs from exhibitions to performances and late-night film screenings.
This year's theme was «The Future of Museums in Changing Communities,» addressing the challenges of our time.
Despite the ongoing war, Ukrainian museums continue their work, featuring exhibitions dedicated to the memory of the fallen and initiatives supporting national heritage.
The Municipal Museum of Personal Collections named after O. V. Bleschunov in Odessa presented the exhibition «Connection» by artist Sofia Golubeva, exploring female mutual support during wartime.
«This is not just an exhibition about female experience; it is an attempt to find a new language of closeness amidst crisis,» says the artist.
Alongside the exhibition, an author lecture took place where Sofia Golubeva shared insights into creating art born from loss and love.
On May 24 at 14:30, there will be a painting workshop titled «Figure in Water,» open to all interested.
The exhibition «Connection» will be available until June 8.
The museum is open from Thursday to Sunday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Address: Polish St, 19 (entrance from the courtyard).
